As part of the Chamber’s commitment to youth education, Youth Leadership is designed to enhance youth with the knowledge and skills they need to become better leaders in our community. The program sessions cover several work experiences from possible future vocations: entrepreneurship & small business; volunteerism & non-profits; public service; manufacturing & skill trades. High school juniors from Portage, Baraboo, Pardeeville, Poynette, Reedsburg, and Wonewoc-Center have participated in the program.
According to Portage High Principal Karin Exo, Youth Leadership is most advantageous to students who show potential leadership qualities. Exo believes the program provides the confidence and skills, and subsequently, the nudge some students need to get involved and become leaders in clubs and organizations in their senior year.
